If you want to succeed in any endeavor, you need to have persistence and dedication. Even your daily life requires it because if you’re the type of person who is quite lazy and wants to goof around, you’ll attain nothing of importance in your life.
Ever since you were a little kid, you were already taught with the value of good education. From your nursery days, until you finally graduate in college, you have dedicated many years to get a good education. But it doesn’t end there.
Each time you encounter a new endeavor, activity, or thing, the first to come into your mind is to learn about that particular thing or activity. So you see, no matter what we do, education continues. And this is especially true with forex trading.
Statistics have shown that over 94% professional traders lose a lot of money every day in forex trading alone. But don’t be discouraged; in fact why not use that piece of information to strive hard to get a forex trading education.
The financial market changes by the minute, or even by the second. Who knows which currencies are a good buy and which aren’t. Most traders, specially the starters, believe that they can predict what is about to happen in forex trading. But you see there is more to predicting the market; you need to educate yourself still.
First things first, you must have a forex trading system which contains the key elements, namely: money management, risk, and execution. If you have a well developed system, which gives a lot of weight to money and risk management, over time you can actually carry on draw downs while expecting consistent returns.
Forex trading is not just about buying low currencies and then selling them when the price is high. Profitable traders can teach you more than just discipline, because you also need to learn about detachment. Ask a professional trader to show and guide you how it is done.
You must have the proper mindset in order to be a successful forex trader. To achieve this, your capital should have a positive return. It is not all about profits especially when you’re just a beginner. You should first determine if you have a reasonable return of your capital.
Most successful forex traders have undergone some sort of education. Since forex trading is a high risk endeavor, it is not wise to instantly jump into the trade.
If you purely rely on experience and instinct, you may not likely succeed in forex trading. But if you have undergone a forex trading education, you are more capable to handle demands and the stress that comes along with the trade.
Through forex education, you can learn all about the market mechanics, reading the forex chart, how software works, how it is closed, the right time to bid, and many more. It is the best possible route to take before plunging into forex trading.
The FX market is volatile, and you can understand the situation better if you know how to read charts. It will be easier for you to understand the different reasons behind these shifts, and can greatly help in minimizing the risks that you are going to undertake.
The very first things that you’ll learn in forex trading education are the basics. It includes margin concepts, order types, rollovers, bids, and leveraging. Aside from that, you can also learn about fundamental and technical analysis. And lastly, you should learn about trading psychology which can teach you about patience, discipline, and commitment.
It is also good if you can learn about the financial market’s history. And knowing the past mistakes made by other traders will teach us how to avoid such circumstances. You can get a forex education online or in a traditional class.
Having a forex education is an added advantage compared to those who haven’t had any. This is especially helpful for starters, and even for those who have been in trading for some time.
Most professional traders highly recommend some form of forex education. With a little background and knowledge about the trade, it is a sure fire way to succeed in this line of trade. Instead of making wild guesses, why not take a forex education class, and make educated decisions when doing the actual trade.

The foreign exchange market, Forex, is different from the stocks and futures exchange market in more than one way. The Forex market is in fact an interbank and an over-the-counter market. This implies that any particular foreign currency pair does not have a fixed universal exchange rate.
This stems from the fact that the foreign currency market operates twenty fours a day, seven days a week with individuals transacting in foreign currency with foreign exchange brokers, these brokers interacting with banks, banks transacting with other banks, all over the world.
This also means that even if one trading session ends somewhere, a new one is starting elsewhere.
For example, when the Asian trading session ends, the European session starts and when the European session ends, the US session will be in full swing.
This is very significant since it means that all world currencies are in play at all times. It also means that traders anywhere in the world do not necessarily have to wait for local markets to open for them to carry out any transaction – they can react to any significant news that will have a bearing on the foreign exchange market as quickly as they can.

The currencies of the world are on a floating exchange rate, and they are always traded in pairs Euro/Dollar, Dollar/Yen, etc. About 85 percent of all Forex daily transactions involve trading of the major currencies.
Four major currency pairs are usually used for investment purposes. They are: Euro against US dollar, US dollar against Japanese yen, British pound against US dollar, and US dollar against Swiss franc. Right now I will show you how they look in the trading market: EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GBP/USD, and USD/CHF. As a note you should know that no dividends are paid on currencies.
If you think one currency will appreciate against another, you may exchange that second currency for the first one and be able to stay in it. In case everything goes as you plan it, eventually you may be able to make the opposite deal in that you may exchange this first currency back for that other and then collect profits from it.

Learn the lessons of history – good and bad

The world in which we live is constantly changing. Physically, morally, financially, things which we held to be true ten years ago have in many instances ceased to be the case. However, this does not mean that we cannot learn from the past. After all, a wise man once said these words, or something close: “Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it”. In other words, unless you learn from your mistakes you stand an excellent chance of making the same mistakes again. In fact, one could go further and say that you should also learn from the mistakes of other people. It is true that you can learn much more from a mistake than you can from something flawless.
It is, then, an excellent idea to keep a watch for the same data cropping up time and again in the Forex market. Where before you might have been led to believe that a certain market was going a certain way, and followed what the data suggested, you may well have found that that action was ill-advised. When the conditions reoccur you should be highly cautious of reacting in the same way – the potential drawbacks for you could be just as negative, if not more so.
It is much better for you to do your research and be initially cautious when it comes to trading on the market. After a while of intelligent conduct you may well have earned yourself enough money to put by for security, and let your instincts dictate your actions for a while to see if they make you as much money as you expect.
Drawbacks for Forex beginners

Starting fresh in anything is going to have its problems, due to the lack of experience one has to draw on. As much of a natural talent as you may have for something, you will from time to time be faced with problems that you feel you are unable to deal with. One has only to look at the world of sport to see how often brilliantly talented youths are beaten by less talented experienced professionals, who know how to use a situation to their advantage on account of having faced that situation, analysed it and developed a way to deal with it. This is mirrored in life, and in situations such as the Forex market.
One thing that separates novices from experienced traders is how they react to occasionally confusing market data. When confronted with results that one does not expect, it is easy to take an inaccurate or imperfect interpretation of that data and act based on that. When you face a situation for the first time, you are in a position where you have to rely on your own impression, with nothing concrete to base it on beyond what you hear from others. It would be naïve to expect other people to always steer you the right way in an environment that rewards you more if fewer people get it right.
For this reason it is always best to have a “dry run” at Forex or any other market – whether by a “Fantasy Forex” game or with a small initial stake. This way you learn from your mistakes without having to pay too much for them.

Learn to play the market by playing a game

Forex is a complicated system which still often confounds people with years of trading experience. Knowing how a situation usually resolves itself does not mean that you will be able to correctly predict how it will resolve itself every time. The market data is an excellent way of judging what the situation is at any given time. It is also as good a way as you will find of predicting future market behavior. Nonetheless, it is not a guaranteed predictor and consequently even the most experienced traders sometimes make a mess of things.
The less experience you have – in anything – the more likely you are to have the wrong reaction to a given situation. If this is in a golf match, then all that rests on your mistake is a little personal pride. On the Forex market, it can end up costing you real money. It is therefore massively important that you have as much knowledge to back up your every decision as you possibly can. One way of accruing knowledge without making costly mistakes and potentially bankrupting yourself is to start by playing online Forex games. These are a kind of simulator which closely reflects the real-life market and tells you how good your instincts are – without ruining you if you make a mistake.
There are Forex games available on the Internet which run entirely free of charge. There is obviously some variation in quality, and you should ensure that you check out more than a couple before committing to one. The more experience you gather before playing for real, the better your chances of making real money in the future.

Things to keep in mind for Forex traders

There is plenty of risk involved in trading on just about any market. Hostile conditions can leave you high and dry if you do not have the knowledge required to get out of a risky position at the right time. On the other hand, over-reaction to a temporary situation can put you in an equally tough situation, so it is worth keeping some things in mind
- Firstly, remember that you are trading with borrowed money. Before you make your first real trades, open a demo account and use that to test your instincts. Once you are making profits consistently you can switch to trading real money – and will be much less likely to lose it. If you have encouraging early results, do not be tempted to jump right in – this is not the time for high risks.
- Be consistent. It is easy to get carried away if you feel that a position is destined to bring you a profit. You may think inwardly that you have a stop-loss point of no return, but when the currency hits that price you flinch and convince yourself that it is coming back up. You might as well not have set the limit in the first place, then. Have realistic targets and stick to them.
- Choose your broker wisely. There are some Forex brokers who use legally or morally questionable tactics to guarantee a profit and there is no-one they will not sell out – yourself included. Ask around for tips, and follow the advice that keeps coming up.
